Governance

History tells us how the past was governed, but we have to decide what type of governance is required in the future.


In ancient time of hunters and gatherers, found out that group hunting is better than an individual, and they formed tribes. They also elected a chief, which remained hereditary.They had a territory to defend and women and children to protect.


Years later several tribes were subjugated by one and the chief called himself a king. The king has a much larger territory, and is governed by the help of the chiefs of the tribe.


Where several kings were subjugated and territory is very large, the head is declared as an emperor. He collected taxes from the kings for the large army and the administration. The development works as we know today was non existent, but he has to build roads for the movement of the army and houses, towns,cities for them. 


Ancient civilisation like egypt, mesopotomia, babylon flourished with a powerful government, and added wealth by trade and commerce.Then came romans, greeks,persians,ottomans, but in that order. In this phase art and culture was an added credit to the governments.


Greek philosophers thought that people should govern themselves,
and romans tried for a short period, This is called democracy, as against monarchy,theocrarcy, autocracy and dictatorship.


For about a millennium most of the world remained monarchies, which was the best form of governance at that time. Then came republics in few countries. France the present one is known as the fifth republic, and in between they had monarchies by choice. Germans are the third reich.British made into a constitutional monarchy with several european contries, whereas japan thailand had it for hundreds of years.


At present with about 200 members, real democracy can be counted in fingers, most of the others are theocracy like in Iran or dictatorship like mubaraks or assads.Then like pakistan a democacy controlled by military. Therefore the opinion of united states that iraq or afganistan should be democracies is a fallacy.Each country has its own cultural sociological parameters, based on which type of governance should be decided. Democracy is not necessarily the best form of governance.
