History

From ancient times the exploits of the chief of a tribe and later king of a country were spoken by word of mouth from generation to generation. This is known as anecdotes and was recorded in different languages later. The real historians want proof in writing on stone, papyrus, palm leaves and then on paper. If a monument is built and is standing also is history. Archeologists dig out and find foundations of structures and reconstruct. Mariners lift sunken ships, or go down to see and photographs and that makes history.

History covers not only wars, but famine, pestilence, governance, buildings of pyramids, cathedrals, stadiums, aqueducts, temples, mosques and even roads railways, dams and harbors of the past. History gives us knowledge for our good in building the future. Empires have grown and destroyed in the history of time, which gives us the insight of the people of that era.

As against history Ramayan Mahabharat and all the Greek mythologies are treated as mythology (word derived from myth). During akbars time, akbarnama was written and ahom kings had officials to write history of around 800 years in thai language, which was translated by an English man. These are accepted as history. Sometimes history is rewritten after new findings and due to change in the regimes.

The ancient history is mostly based on monuments, as in the case of Mayan and Egyptians and inscriptions on stone in symbols. Modern history is based on more tangible proofs. Soviets found ancient rock paintings in caves of central Asia with large size people with helmets and antenna suggesting aliens, and they found a huge inclined stone slab with tactite remains at the base. Tactite is a product which can be obtained by heating sand to a very high temperature, suggesting rocket launchings. These are mysteries of history

At present archives and libraries are great sources of modern history. Added to that is declassified documents and hacked wikileaks is also history. History is about past, and now there is futurology (not astrology) based on the past.
